Greetings Flint Hill Elementary School Stakeholders,
I am pleased to introduce myself to you as your new principal. My name is Ms. Heidi Coachman, Ed.S., and I am excited to embark on this new leadership journey at Flint Hill Elementary School. As we step into this academic journey together, I want to express my enthusiasm for the upcoming year and share a bit about my 20 years of elementary education experience. I began my career as a first-grade teacher with the DeKalb County School District in 2004. I later transferred to Rockdale County Public Schools as an EIP teacher and instructional coach before becoming assistant principal at Hightower Trail Elementary School. I also served as an assistant principal at D.L. Sims Elementary School and C.J. Hicks Elementary School before accepting the Elementary Coordinator position with Newton County Schools.
I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from the University of South Carolina and a Master of Arts in Instruction from Central Michigan University. I earned my Educational Leadership Specialist from the University of West Georgia. Due to my passion for continuous learning and personal growth, I am working on my Doctorate in Education, emphasizing school improvement at the University of West Georgia.
My leadership vision is to cultivate a school of excellence. I envision Flint Hill becoming a model, high-performing school with exemplary student success and achievement. With a laser-like focus on standards-based instruction and effective instructional practices, Flint Hill will continue to thrive. I’m genuinely excited about the future and look forward to developing relationships with students, staff, parents, and the community. As a compassionate servant leader, I am committed and passionate about student growth and ensuring the learning environment is safe and culturally responsive for all.
Creating conditions where students enjoy learning and staff enjoy working is near and dear to my heart. Everyone thrives in this environment. Throughout the year, you can expect open lines of communication, transparency, and a focus on continuous improvement. I encourage parents and guardians to actively participate in their child's education, and I welcome your feedback, questions, and ideas.
Together, we will celebrate achievements, overcome challenges, and create memorable experiences that shape our students' futures. I am excited to meet each of you and work together to make this school year a successful and rewarding experience for everyone.
Thank you for entrusting us with your child's education. I am confident our collective efforts will make this school year one of growth, learning, and achievement.
With Warm Regards,
Ms. Heidi Coachman, Ed.S.
